Alpha-bisabolol is a monocyclic sesquiterpene obtained by direct distillation of the essential oil from plants, especially the flowers of Matricaria chamomilla. Scientific studies have proven that bisabolol has a remarkable anti-inflammatory action by reducing the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, leading to improvements in the inflammatory condition of the skin without causing any primary irritation effects. Chamomile oil has traditionally been used as an anti-inflammatory agent and to relieve symptoms such as eczema, dermatitis, and other irritating skin conditions. The combination of alpha-bisabolol with chamomile oil is highly regarded as an option for cosmetic products aimed at alleviating the symptoms of topical inflammation.
